There are many Renaissance buildings of great value, including the Sforza palace, dating from the sixteenth century. The Sforza place can be found on the main square of the town near the gelateria. The 1,000-year-old castle is Proceno’s landmark. The castle’s tower houses the private museum of the lady of the castle. Its restaurant offers the best selection of Italian food and exquisite wine having earned a Michelin star. In summer, dinner is served in the carriage house of garden, overlooking the gardens.
Unesco heritage site Val d’Orcia is 27 km away, located behind Monte Amiata. The area is particularly famous for its beautiful landscape with hills covered with vineyards, cypresses, wheat fields and farms or small villages.
Lake Bolsena is 32 km away and is the largest volcanic lake in Europe. Charter a boat and visit the islands of Martana and Bisentina. Archaeological traces of the Etruscans and Romans can be found on Bisentina.
Montepulciano is located on one of Tuscany’s highest hills 48 km from the estate. World-famous for its wines and the Piazza Grande overlooking the entire region.
